Company Founder, Deborah Moyer, was inspired to create The Downsizing Institute to offer a truly innovative approach in helping other heart-centered entrepreneurs successfully launch their own senior downsizing business, as she did in 2009.
After being laid off during the economic disaster of 2008, she merged her sales, marketing and project management experience from her previous career with her lifetime passion for organizing and created her first company, Your Organizing Answer (YOA).
As she built her company, she continued to expand her knowledge and expertise on issues relating to seniors and aging by earning her national designations as both a CRTS (Certified Relocation and Transitions Specialist) in 2009 and her CAPS (Certified Age-In-Place Specialist) national designation in 2011.
She also realized she was using a lot of life coaching skills to help senior clients work through the emotional and psychological challenges of transition.
In 2016, she formally incorporated those skills as an accredited professional life coach (CPC) with a specialization in transitions.
She has actively supported her Senior Downsizing Specialist fellowship by participating within her industry as an Educational Task Force Committee member, an ‘iMentor’ Coach resource, and conference educational faculty member.
Deborah is a weekly radio contributor offering coaching guidance on her program "Today's Coaching Moment" on KXCR public radio on the Oregon Coast.
She speaks regularly to senior and women’s groups, as well as related business and community organizations. She is currently authoring a book to help educate seniors, their families, and others, how to reduce the stress of transition, and see the many benefits, of downsizing.
